Making coffee is often the first thing we do as soon as we wake up, because we simply can not imagine the beginning of the day without that magical drink that awakens us on the first sip.
Experts, however, believe that this is not the best time to drink the first morning coffee. In spite of the fact that coffee will definitely encourage awakening immediately after we get out of bed, this feeling quickly disappears.
“That’s why you should definitely not have a cup of coffee right after awakening,” says nutritionist Laura Cipulo, author of the book “Women’s Healthy Body Clock Diet”.
Coffee will be most effective if you drink it about 3 to 4 hours after waking up.
During this period, there is not a lot of cortisol (a stress hormone) in our body, which usually awakens us, and that’s why we need some outer stimulus at that time, CNBC reports.
