Do you snooze your alarm a few times before waking up and enjoy precious minutes of sleep before you actually have to get up for work?
If you have a feeling that you are sleep deprived, you are not only, around 39% of people in UK and other western civilizations suffer from the lack of sleep. Recent reports of one of the UK health institution claims that the number of people who are happy with their sleep has fallen from 25% in 2013. to 17% in 2017.
Recent studies have shown that we should stop counting how many hours we have slept, but we should consider how the sleep cycle actually works.
“The brain has a sleep pattern. It is not like that the first hours you fall asleep is the same as second or third. Everything happens in cycles. In each cucle there is a non-REM and REM phase”. – says expert for sleep disorders dr Laura Lefkovitz.
Thankfully now you can use a calculator that will tell you when you should be in bed.
“If you wake up in the middle of the cycle you will feel bad throughout the day, but getting up between the phases will help you start your day with a smile on your face”, says dr Lefkovitz.
For example, if you wake up at 6:30 AM you should go to bed either at 9:16 PM, 22:46 PM or at 00:16 AM and 1:46 AM.
If you should wake up at 7 AM, than you should go to bed at 9:46 PM , 23:16 PM or at 00:46 AM or 2:16 AM.
